    • Eligibility

      • Children aged 8 to 11 years old must book the Unaccompanied Minors service in order to travel alone on international and domestic (PAL Express) flights. This is a requirement. 
      • Children aged 12 to 17 can choose whether or not to use the service. 
      • Children who are under 8 years old are not allowed to travel alone or as Unaccompanied Minors. They must be accompanied by a passenger who is at least 18 years old and stay in the same cabin.  
    • Before the travel date, the parent or adult guardian of the Unaccompanied Minor must fill out and send in the Unaccompanied Minor (UM) handling advice form. 
    • Country Regulations

      • If you have a Philippine passport and want to travel internationally, you need to get an Authority to Travel clearance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
      • If you don’t have a Philippine passport, you might need to get an exit clearance. To find out if you need one, contact your embassy.
      • Children traveling alone within Davao, both to and from the city, must have permission from either the Punong Barangay or the City Social Services and Development Office.
    • At the Departure

      • The child must be accompanied by their parent or adult guardian to the airport if they are an Unaccompanied Minor. 
      • At the departure airport, the child will receive the following:
        • A badge for children traveling alone. 
        • There is an envelope that has the child’s travel documents inside.
      • The following conditions must be met:
        • At the stopping place by the person named on the Unaccompanied Minor (UM) Form. 
        • At the airport where the child is arriving by the person named on the Unaccompanied Minor (UM) Form.
    • Fare and Service Fee for Minors

      • If you are a minor traveling alone, you will need to pay the full fare for your ticket, along with an additional service fee.
      • The fee for the Unaccompanied Minors service is as follows:
        • Between Manila and the U.S., Canada, or London, it costs USD 100.
        • From the Philippines to:
          • Asia/Port Moresby/Guam USD 50
          • The UAE/Saudi Arabia/Qatar/Kuwait USD 75
          • Australia/New Zealand USD 70
        • PHP 500 in the Philippines
      • The Unaccompanied Minor Service Fee (UMSF) is a fee that is charged for each part of the trip and must be paid when you buy your ticket. 
      • Tickets that have only been partially issued will be updated to show the complete fare. This may include additional charges for fares and taxes, in addition to the service fee.
  • Can I get a refund for the Unaccompanied Minors service fee on Philippine Airlines?

Yes, you can get a refund for the Unaccompanied Minor Service Fee (UMSF) if:

  • The passenger doesn’t want to go on the flight. 
  • A grown-up is prepared to go with the child on the trip.
  • The Unaccompanied Minor changes their flight and will be 12 years old on the day of the new flight. 
  • The flight is not going as planned or it has been canceled.
